This portrait I took of my sister just for fun. We had a little photo shoot in front of a white wall. I decided to cover her  right eye with hair so the color of it would not be distracting, thus her left eye is a stronger center of interest. I took the picture close up so that there wouldn't be any empty spaces behind her head. To create a more soft image I made a few adjustments like softening her skin and brightening her eyes. I also added a little bit of contrast.

I got down on my knees so that my eves were on the level of the chess figures. I surrounded the white chess figure whit black figures to create more contrast an though a stronger center of interest. The black figures in the front I made look bigger by installing other chess figures further away in the back. The rule of thirds I broke again because it gave the whole picture a different look in my opinion. I added a contrast and I cropped the picture to get rid of eye distracting things.

This picture I took really close up. I used the leaves to frame the center of interest a little bit which I did by breaking the rule of thirds, because everything in this photograph is green except for the bug, the center of interest is really strong. I also used a small aperture to focus on the main part and blur the leaves out. Adding contrast was the only adjustment I made.

I took an apple which had a little bit of green in the middle and turned the other apples around so that the only other color in the picture was red. In this picture the color that attracts the eye is green instead of red which is unusual. I broke the rule of thirds on purpose which gave the picture an even stronger center of interest in my opinion. I also made a few adjustments like blurring the other apples out, brightening the green on the main apple and adding a little bit more contrast

In this picture you can see the dog of my neighbors. I took her for a walk and I waited until she sat still, than I got down so that her eyes were on the same eye level as my camera. I waited an other moment until she got this look in her eyes. By using the rule of thirds I created empty space on the left side of the picture so that there was nothing to distract the eye. It is a simple picture with a strong center of interest which I am proud of because I really like the look in her eyes. The only adjustment in made was adding a little more contrast.

I took this picture on a trip to Niagara Falls, it shows the bridge across the Niagara River. I choose the angel to get the whole bridge into my picture, also I lined up the bridge with the horizon to create a straight line across my picture, and triangle and empty space with the sky. the picture is symmetrical balanced, which means that both sides are compositionally identical. I added a little bit of contrast to bring out more details, which was the only adjustment I made.

An other picture for the assignment "dramatic lightening" is this one. We got inspired by the celebrity Kylie Jenner. As in the other picture we used extra light and a black sheet as the background, we also used sticks to create shadows. I turned the image in to black and white except for her eye because it gives the picture an more artistic look in my opinion. I also made the side lightening effect stronger by "burning" the left side of her face, than I brightened her eyes and softened her skin.
